وَتَرَى الْجِبَالَ تَحْسَبُهَا جَامِدَةً وَهِيَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ السَّحَابِ
“And you see the mountains—you think them solid everlasting—but they pass by like the passing of clouds” (Surah An-Naml: 27:88)

Earlier today we received the painful news that Mufti Muhammad Taha Karaan (Cape Town, South Africa) has returned to his Lord. May Allah Subhaanahu Wata’aala have mercy upon his soul. Salaatul Janaza Alal Ghaaib will be performed today (Friday 11th June 2021) after Jumu’ah Salaah (1.30pm) at Masjid Saliheen, Didsbury Street, Blackburn. InshaAllah.

We are deeply saddened by this immense loss to the Ummah at large, especially for the Shaafi’i Community. As this great mountain of ‘Ilm (Knowledge) and ‘Hilm (Forbearance) who brought such strength and stability to our communities departs from us. We pray Allah Subhaanahu Wata’aala grant him the highest stages of Jannah in the company of Our Beloved Master Muhammad ﷺ, grant ease and patience to his esteemed family, his honourable students, and the thousands of hearts he touched worldwide.

As one of the most influential ambassadors of the Shaafi’i Madhab in our times, we are deeply indebted to Mufti Saahib Rahimahullah, and will remain honoured at his inaugurating our very first Khatmul Bukhari graduation at Bayt Muhammad Academy. We reminisce the fond memories with Mufti Saahib during his last visit in 2017 for our national tour across the UK. His final lesson of Sahih Al-Bukhari, his encyclopaedic knowledge, his wisdom, his sincerity, his love for Allah & His Messenger ﷺ, his charismatic persona and his embodiment of the Prophetic character will forever remain etched in our hearts.

We pray Allah Subhaanahu Wata’aala allow us all to continue benefitting from Mufti Saahib’s Uloom. Whilst such giants are truly unique and irreplaceable, we turn to Allah Subhaanahu Wata’aa and supplicate to him by the Du’aa of Our Beloved Prophet ﷺ taught to our mother Umm Salamah Radhiyallahu ‘Anha at her great loss:
اللهم أجرنا من مصيبتنا هذه، واخلف لنا خيرا منه
“O Allah! Absolve us from this calamity of ours, and replenish it for us for that which is better”

Jazakallah Khair
